Although I do still have some commissions to finish for a couple of clients, I have decided that February 2018 will most likely be my final month of commissions, because beginning March 01, 2018, I may no longer be accepting commissions and will probably stick to just drawing gift art and requests. The reason for this is because I am nowhere near good enough to be doing any kind of commissions, even dirt cheap ones. I know what you are probably going to say, "an artist is his own worst critic", or some nonsense like that. Well, the fact is, I'm sick and tired of hearing it and it doesn't help me at all! There has to be a good reason why I'm not improving as an artist despite my efforts. I am, at best, a beginner and have no right to charge even as little as $5 a picture. Whenever I look at professional art, I see a kind of magic to it that my art is utterly lacking. I can't even compare with that, or even get my anatomy or proportions right. In fact, to be honest, people like
are obviously way more talented than I am. If that seems far-fetched, then I suggest you compare their galleries with mine. If I am ever to become a full-time commission artist (which is quite unlikely), I will first have to get immeasurably better at drawing than I am now. As it is, I can't make a drawing look even halfway decent, let alone professional. What do you guys think, though? Should I keep doing commissions, or should I just do gift art and requests? Either way, I greatly appreciate your comments. Still, it seems I truly do deserve the title of worst artist on dA.
